Job Overview

Legacy Supply Chain, supporting General Electric, is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Transportation General Manager to lead our transportation operations in Louisville, KY. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation operations, which includes multistate sites. This position offers a competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k).

What to expect as a Transportation General Manager:

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the operation, customer satisfaction and account performance across multiple operating sites.
  • Oversee the performance of fleet operations to including safety, compliance, driver leadership, equipment utilization, and fleet maintenance.
  • Responsible for development of account leadership team.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including DOT and OSHA.
  • Responsible for leveraging fleet management technology to support operations (TMS, In-cab technology, etc.)
  • Assess business conditions, evaluate emerging business needs and takes action to address near-term opportunities to improve safety, service, quality and cost.
  • Create a positive work environment that is consistent with the Company’s values and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Review and evaluate performance of transportation functions, address performance gaps, and take corrective action, as needed, to ensure each functional area are delivering on operating goals.
  • Manage client relationship to ensure customer satisfaction and support growth.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring operating and capital budgets.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of increased responsibility within supply chain or transportation functions.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a manager role.
  • 5 years in a transportation GM capacity position
  • BA or BS preferred or equivalent related work experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership of functional and cross-functional teams toward the achievement of objectives.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with fluctuating workloads.
  • Strong analytical, financial & P&L competencies required to succeed.
  • Adept at identifying and implementing strategies to optimize efficiency during peak and off-peak periods.
  • In depth knowledge of key transportation processes and current best practices.
  • Experience managing union workforce preferred.
  • Ability to identify, predict, and solve problems.
  • Decisive visionary with the objective of balancing tactical and strategic issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Solid business acumen accompanied by interpersonal savvy.
  • Ability to influence and persuade in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience in vendor management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, interact and convey business decisions with many different levels within the organization.
  • Experience managing union workforce a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean methodology.
  • Experience and knowledge of DOT compliance.
  • Experience using Samara ELD and Dash Cams preferred
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%.
